I’m Kristof Ghekiere, born in 1975 in Kortrijk, Belgium. I started exploring and experiencing art early in life, but the urge to create visual art crossed my path rather late. To help me with those first steps as an ‘artist’, I studied Visual Arts at the Academy of Visual Arts in Ghent, Belgium from 2015 until 2018.

 

In 2019, I moved with my family to Thailand to live and work in Bangkok.

 

In this day and age, every human being is subjected to enormous pressure, although you can find balance and calmness anytime, anywhere. The problem is that we’ve become blind to it. We are forced to follow the pace of the chaotic society. But even in this stressful external world, inner peace can be found in every person, in every creature and in every object.

 

Observing and watching what is happening around you, is the start of everything. By capturing the right image in your memory or on photo, the contradictory process of analyzing and feeling starts.

 

Capturing – Analyzing – Feeling – Deleting – Capturing – Analyzing – Feeling …

 

Every image from your memory or photo has its essential line, shape, or plane. You can only find it by eliminating or cutting the excess, the waste and unnecessary objects which are blurring your view and keep you away from the core.

 

Ultimately you find purity, ease and balance… This is the essence of the minimalism in my work…
